But dissecting one meme made me realize what I truly want to do: break down the craft of editing itself. The Goon Edit was a symptom; the disease and the cure is in the technique.

It’s especially effective for travel videos, where you want to merge context (the place) and character (the traveler).

For Speed & Modern Workflows: Use the Color Page
Go to the Color Page and select your clip.
In the Color Palette, click the Magic Mask button.
Use the Brush to quickly paint your subject.
Let the AI analyze the clip. Use the Refine Mask settings to clean up the edges.
For Ultimate Control & Precision: Use the Fusion Page
Go to the Fusion Page and add a Bitmap node to your foreground clip.
Draw a precise mask around your subject.
Connect the Bitmap to a Merge node over your background.
Use the Tracker on the Polygon path to automatically follow any movement.
The Choices
Magic Mask is fastest for organic shapes like people.
Fusion is best for complex shots and total creative control.
Afterwards go to the editor page and simply layer the elements over each other!
